History Of CSF
The Combat Sports Federation began life in August 1999, with their debut show "Sunday Night Slam" in Swindon, Wiltshire; notable for a bruising and punishing ladder match which saw Gideon defeat Genocide for the CSF Hardcore Championship.
Following this highly impressive debut event, CSF promoted their first show in what has now become "The CSF Arena", Melksham Assembly Hall. The original "Total Elimination" event on August 28th 1999 saw Vlad Dracul defeat Hardcore Champion Gideon in a non-title match, The Silver Bullet upset The Guv'nor Carl Conroy, Jason Cross beat Genocide in a scientific classic, The Highlander becoming the new CCW/CSF All-Nations Champion by defeating Lionheart Mike Thomas and, as is now customary for Total Elimination, The Eliminator emerge victorious in a "Total Elimination" run-the gauntlet match, defeating amongst others The Highlander, The Silver Bullet and Max Carnage.
Following the success of "Total Elimination", CSF staged their next live event in November '99 in Melksham Assembly Hall. Dubbed "Deadly Draw", the event featured several singles contests, with the participants drawn at random on the night. Matches included hometown favourite The Eliminator, Stuart Natt defeating Max Carnage, The Guv'nor Carl Conroy beating the man from the dark side, Vlad Dracul, Lionheart Mike Thomas overcoming The Highlander in a non-title match, and The Eliminator emerging victorious in the over the top rope "Rumble" match main event. This show marked the largest attendance at a CSF show up to this point, with an electric sell-out crowd of 370 gathered in the Assembly Hall to witness some truly top-class professional wrestling. This event also marked the beginning of the working relationship with rival promotion the Frontier Wrestling Alliance (FWA), as a number of their stars wrestled at "Deadly Draw". As we'll elaborate upon later, the relationship would turn distinctly sour before all was said and done between the two promotions.
March 2000 saw the first "Annihilation" card in Melksham Assembly Hall. Another sell-out crowd was gathered to witness another ground-breaking show from The Combat Sports Federation, which saw Mr.Vain Peter Collins defeat Stu Odyssey, Jake Jeckle defeat Aaron Young, The Highlander become the undisputed CSF Heavyweight and All-Nations Champion thanks to his 2 falls to 1 victory over Lionheart Mike Thomas. The long-awaited first confrontation of The Eliminator and The Guv'nor Carl Conroy also took place at this event, with the hometown boy grabbing the victory, much to the delight of those in attendance. The main event saw Gideon, Genocide and Max Carnage defeat Jason Fury, Solfly and Stu Odyssey in another brutal and violent confrontation between the two sets of long-time enemies.
June 2000 saw the introduction of "Redemption" to the CSF calendar. In what was proving something of a regular occurrance, another sell-out crowd gathered in Melksham to witness a historic night of action for the Combat Sports Federation. "Redemption" saw up and comer Jake Jeckle defeat the truly abysmal Dave 'Boom Boom' Johnson, in the latter's debut match. Jason Fury defeated Max Carnage following interference from Fury's 'bodyguard' Stu Odyssey. Paul Travell defeated Mark Sloan and Paul Slee in a three way FWA contest. Melksham's own Eliminator defeated The Guv'nor Carl Conroy, Lionheart Mike Thomas and The Highlander in a four-corners match to win the CSF Heavyweight Championship, to the sheer delight of his home-town followers, who stormed the ring following his historic victory and celebrated with their hero, to a deafening chorus of "We Are Natty's Barmy Army!" and "There's Only One Stuart Natt!" The main event of "Redemption" saw Gideon and Genocide overcome Stu Odyssey and Jason Fury in a ladder match to avenge their comrade Max Carnage's loss to Fury earlier.
In what was to prove another historic night, CSF in conjunction with the FWA staged "Total Elimination II" on October 13th 2000 in Melksham Assembly Hall. Another sell-out crowd gathered to witness the event which began officially the heated rivalry between CSF and the FWA. Contests included The Guv'nor Carl Conroy defeating Lionheart Mike Thomas with the illegal assistance of his new manager Superfly Steve Sharpe. Jake Jeckle defeated Genocide and Gideon to become the new Hardcore Champion in a three-way match. Mr.Vain Peter Collins defeated Paul Phoenix via submission. The Eliminator defeated Dave 'Boom Boom' Johnson, Stu Odyssey and The Highlander in the "Total Elimination" gauntlet match. Jody Fleisch defeated Paul Travell. Justin Richards of the FWA won the CSF vs. FWA "Rumble" main event, by eliminating The Eliminator with assistance from The Highlander. Richards then turned on Highlander, and eliminated him while his back was turned. The stage had certainly been set for "Deadly Draw II" in January 2001.
"Deadly Draw II" saw the continuation of the CSF's feud with the FWA as, for the first time, tag teams were drawn at random from the rosters of both promotions, and booked in matches with each other. Results saw Mr.Vain Peter Collins defeat Jason Fury in a non-Deadly Draw match. The Guv'nor Carl Conroy & Stu Odyssey went to a no-contest with Jonny Storm & Jody Fleisch when Storm suffered a concussion part-way through the match. Lionheart Mike Thomas & Genocide defeated Mark Sloan & James Tighe. Max Carnage & Gideon defeated Kevin O'Neill & Blade. Justin Richards successfully defended the FWA British Heavyweight Title against Mark Priest & Andy Hogg. Mr.Vain Peter Collins won the CSF Heavyweight Title from The Eliminator. And the CSF were victorious in the "Rumble" main event rematch. CSF had won the battle against the FWA on this night, but the war remains far from over between the two promotions.
The most recent CSF event was again held in Melksham, in front of yet another sell-out crowd. "Annihilation II - Zero Tolerance!" took place on April 27th 2001 and saw the following matches: Gideon defeated Jason Fury in a good and highly competitive match-up. The Anarchist Doug Williams, making his CSF debut, put away the combination of Double Impact (better known as Aaron Young and Paul Phoenix) in a handicap match. Jake Jeckle successfully defended his CSF Hardcore Title against Max Carnage. The Guv'nor Carl Conroy & The Highlander defeated Lionheart Mike Thomas & Stu Odyssey. Jody Fleisch defeated Genocide in a high-flying 'dream match'. Jorge Castano beat Scott Rock. And The Eliminator, spurred on by the passionate and vocal backing of his home town fans, defeated Mr.Vain Peter Collins to regain the CSF Heavyweight Title in a lumberjack match. The event also saw the formation of Carl Conroy's Guvorning Body, consisting of himself, his equally annoying manager Superfly Steve Sharpe, their bodyguard/pimp Mr.12 Play J.Y.Kelly, The Anarchist Doug Williams & Mr.Vain Peter Collins.
So, what next for the Combat Sports Federation? Well, the next event on the CSF calendar for this year is "Total Elimination III", which is tentatively scheduled for mid-September, back in the "CSF Arena" Melksham Assembly Hall. We will update the site with all relevant information as soon as we have it.
